What is the best environment for chanting the 6-Syllable Mantra?
Good question.
I think a quiet environment is the best for chanting. Sometimes we also chant in an emergency situation. You can chant quietly or loudly. If you chant the 6-Syllable Mantra as a meditation, chant in a quiet environment.
You can chant in the morning, afternoon, or at night. Someone asked, “Can I chant before going to bed?” Sure, most people chant at night before they go to bed. We have a shorter, 30-minute version, and a longer, one-hour version. Before going to bed, chant for an hour in a sitting-meditation pose. First, it eliminates fatigue; it also accumulates energy and wisdom. You will feel motivated and full of energy the next day.
You can also chant while taking a break. If you get tired during a day in the office, try chanting for 10 minutes. You can chant along with a recording, or chant quietly on your own. I think this is better than seated meditation without chanting. It may be hard to enter a quiet state in a seated meditation. In that case, it is better to chant.
Someone asked, “Can I chant along to a recording while driving?” You can, but don’t dive into a meditative state. At home, when it gets quiet, you can just close your eyes naturally and chant. Driving in a safe manner is important. Chanting and listening to recordings while driving, will relax and calm you down, but don’t dive into a meditative state.
Many people felt good during this 6-Syllable Mantra chanting retreat. I was taught the most authentic chanting method, which I have been teaching
to you. I used the same method while recording the 6-Syllable Mantra. I believe listening to it will make you feel good. This mantra is full of blessings. So chant when you have quiet time or need to stay refreshed.
