This art piece behind me is called “Vision of the Eastern Paradise.”

Actually, before I painted this piece, I was very hesitant. It was a certain feeling that guided me to paint. But due to the influence of others, when I first painted it, it was red. I then used yellow, and then white. It went on like this for an entire day. There seemed to be inspirations, but I couldn’t grasp the one I truly wanted.

Sometimes the Buddha’s message is very special, other times it is very direct. This art piece is like that. It was changed several times. The colors were layered, one over another. I even sat by the shore, to observe the ocean and reflect. The more I thought about the painting, the further I strayed from what the inspiration truly brought me.

One night, I sat down and meditated. I set everything aside. I set aside our classes and ceremonies, and even meditation itself, to return to the original world. I found myself in a blue, infinite, solemn, and extremely pure and calm world.

After receiving spiritual guidance, I finished the artwork with lightning speed. The painting is mostly monochrome. A dharma sister asked me, “Master, is this finished?” “Yes, it is completed.” “This is really simple, is it just a base color?” “No. This is the entire painting.” This was a deep inspiration from that world.

Many will want me to explain what this artwork may bring to everyone. I think the first thing it can bring you is joy. Then, it is purity and calmness. It is a monochromatic painting that is pure, calm, and very solemn. Usually, solemnness refers to Buddha statues. This artwork is also very solemn, even though there are no figures of Buddha in it.

Let me be clearer for those who still might not understand. For someone living a normal life, what can it bring? I can only use the 12 vows of the Medicine Buddha to explain.

Everything is included in the 12 vows. Those who are lonely can obtain wisdom and happiness. Those with sickness can regain health. Those in poverty can become wealthy. Those who are lacking good looks can be perfected. Those who have gone down the wrong path can return to the path of illumination. Those who are cowardly can become confident. Those who stutter can sing freely. We can be freed of all afflictions. This artwork may bring us all of these gifts.

It sounds like a lot. There are countless blessings embedded in this artwork. What we can obtain is auspiciousness and a sense of deep peace. These are wonderful gifts. I hope you can receive them.
