1. Lowering Cholesterol and Losing Weight | Lin Li, Toronto, Canada

In April 2022, during a routine health checkup, my family doctor found that my cholesterol level was as high as 5.7 mmol/L (normal range is below 5.2 mmol/L), and he recommended that I take medication. Unwilling to do so, I hoped to use alternative methods to lower cholesterol. In June of the same year, I joined an Energy Bagua class. Even though my movement was not perfect initially, I felt relaxed after each session.

After consistently practicing for 108 days, I rechecked my cholesterol level, and it had dropped to 4.1 mmol/L. The doctor was amazed and asked me what I had done. Precautions Before Practicing Energy Bagua

Energy Bagua is easy to learn, effective and suitable for people of all ages. Here are five aspects to consider before practicing Energy Bagua:

1. Environmental Setting

Energy Bagua practice does not require a large space and can be done both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor practice in parks or open spaces is preferred to experience the freshness of Nature and promote relaxation.

Find a tree that is relatively straight and looks full of vitality. Use this tree as the center of a circular flat area with a radius of about 2 meters. If practicing indoors, choose an indoor tree or other green plant with enough height that your eyes can be level with it. Additionally, ensure good ventilation. Avoid direct airflow from fans or air conditioning; natural wind is preferable.

2. Clothing and Accessories

Wear loose, breathable clothing during Energy Bagua practices. Choose comfortable materials such as cotton or linen. Choose footwear suitable for the outdoor environment; for clean and warm indoor floors, walking barefoot is fine. A pair of sport shoes is recommended when practicing outdoors or indoors with cooler surfaces.

3. Dietary Habits

Practice Energy Bagua on an empty stomach or at least one hour after a meal. Practitioners should maintain a balanced diet, avoiding excessive fullness, hunger, and consumption of oily, cold, or spicy foods.

4. Mentality

Relaxation is crucial in Energy Bagua practice. Avoid tense or rigid body postures, excessive excitement, and distractions. Maintain a calm and peaceful mind, following the guidance of Energy Bagua practice music to enter a serene state of meditation.

5. Practicing Hour and Duration

Energy Bagua practices can be done at any time of the day. Each session should last at least 30 minutes to one hour, with a fixed daily practice time, such as starting at 6 a.m. Initially, fatigue may be experienced due to low energy levels, and the practitioner may take a short break and then continue practicing. Persistence is crucial with Energy Bagua practice; if you practice daily, your energy will gradually increase, and your health conditions will improve.
