Why must you cause harm to earn money? If you truly want to change, this world has many options. It depends on whether you choose compassion or evil.
What should I do if I am in the wrong business?
There are so many jobs, why must you pick one that involves killing? You can change your job once you realize it is wrong. Butchery is not a highly-skilled job; you can change. You can become a vegetable seller or farmer. You can grow crops or do construction. Why kill as a job? Is killing your only option? You can always change jobs. You could be a cab driver and rent an apartment with your salary. You don’t need to kill.
The more you kill, the more sins you and your employer carry. Also, how will it affect your children as you witness and hear more killing? That is what I am worried about. If you know it is wrong, change. Don’t blame others and refuse to change once you know. Change when you know it is wrong. That is how it should be. Repenting is a part of Buddhism. Repent and correct your mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes out of ignorance. There is no point repeating your mistakes, right?
You do it for the money, but must you cause harm to earn money? You can pick jobs that don’t involve killing, join the service industry. In Vancouver, appliance repairmen, plumbers and cleaners make quite a lot of money, you know. There are many options. Sometimes, when you are on the path to evil, you won’t stop. If you don’t want to change, of course you can’t find another job. If you truly want to change, this world has many options.
The world is not a crossroad; there are many paths in front of you. It depends on whether you choose compassion or evil. Think about it. Change when you know it is wrong.
