Can Light-Offering Get Me to Harvard?
According to the Medicine Buddha, if you wish for the Divine to grant your wishes, light 7-color lamps for 49 days. This may help to make wishes come true. I talked about this at a previous event. It is not like this: “OK, my kid is applying to university this year. Based on the sutra, if I make a 49-day light-offering, my kid could definitely go to Harvard.” In the end, he neither gets into Harvard nor other universities. You think the light-offering was a failure. I think not.
At least your child is still healthy and alive. Is university the only way? Is not getting into colleges the end of the world? If your child didn’t do well in school, he can’t get into Harvard no matter how many lights you offer. Only the best get into Harvard. Even if you have top marks, you could get rejected.
